The World Bank Implementation Support Mission for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KP-RAP) concluded with a high-level wrap-up meeting with the Secretary Communications & Works, Planning & Development Department, Project Director KP-RAP and senior management.
The mission reviewed progress across the project’s key components, including climate-resilient rural roads, safe and affordable school journeys for girls, and institutional strengthening. The World Bank team appreciated the progress achieved under KP-RAP and acknowledged the project’s contribution towards improving rural accessibility and expanding opportunities for girls to attend middle school.
The mission appreciated the progress under KP-RAP, particularly the Safe and Affordable School Journeys for Girls programme, benefiting around 19,058 girls across 162 middle schools in seven districts.
The mission also acknowledged encouraging gains in girls’ enrolment and attendance and appreciated KP-RAP’s focus on safe, gender-responsive and climate-resilient rural accessibility.
The mission commended the commitment of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and KP-RAP management towards achieving the project’s development objectives.
