About KP-RAP
About the Project
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KP-RAP) is a flagship infrastructure initiative of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project is implemented through the Communication & Works Department with financing support from the World Bank.
Project Objective
The project aims to improve safe, reliable, and climate-resilient rural connectivity to markets, educational institutions, and health facilities in selected districts of the province, including the Newly Merged Districts.
Why KP-RAP
Project Rationale
Approximately 85% of the population of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa resides in rural areas where access to public services remains limited due to inadequate road connectivity and climate-induced disruptions.
The floods of August 2022 damaged 603 km of roads and 16 bridges, necessitating urgent rehabilitation through climate-resilient designs and external financing support.
